On the 11th day of March 1897 a chapter of The United Daughters of The Confederacy was organized in Rock Hill, South Carolina, to be known as the Ann White Chapter No.123.
Mrs. Ann White, for whom the chapter was named, was a most devoted patriot ever ready to aid in any way the cause she loved so much.
An old newspaper account tells that the chapter was organized in the Rock Hill Library on Main Street later to become the Periwinkle Tea Room. Old records and newspapers accounts tell of various activities and the unfailing interest in the welfare of the Veterans and the Women of the Confederacy, their entertainment, the remembrance of their birthdays, patriotic observance of Southern red-letter days, awarding medals and promoting interest in schools, scholarships and the collecting important Records of Southern History.
An important work of Ann White Chapter in the early years was the raising of money by constant work and perseverance, for a memorial honoring the Confederate soldiers of Rock Hill. Through the splendid cooperation of the city fathers and the citizens of Rock Hill, the monument was unveiled May 10, 1922 in Confederate Park and later moved to Laurelwood Cemetery, where it stands today.
During the World Wars and in every time of community need, members of this chapter have given willing and able service. The Ann White Chapter has won District and Divisional recognition for their achievements. May we as Daughters of the Confederacy take the best from the past and apply it to present and future so that we may meet the problems of today with the same faith, courage, and idealism which characterized our ancestors, and that we may be true to our heritage.
The Ann White Chapter No. 123 is conducting an ongoing project of cataloging the graves of Confederate Veterans in the local area.

To the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Ann White Chapter pledges anew its unfailing devotion and loyal support.
