First comic book published in 1986.
Post Crisis continuity comics started in 1986, at which point Dick Grayson was depicted as having completed his career as Robin and moved on to establish himself as Nightwing. So the Post Crisis Dick Grayson is seen as Robin only in flashback stories.
[This Dick Grayson's history is very much similar to that of the Earth-1 Dick Grayson. up to the point of the Crisis on Infinite Earths.]
After the death of Jason Todd, his replacement as Robin, Dick (as Nightwing) tried to curb Batman's violent, self-destructive behavior. While doing so, he discovered that Tony Zucco, his parents' murderer, was about to be released from prison. Zucco was murdered by other criminals upon his release, but the case had dangerous twists which both Batman and Nightwing followed. When it was all over, Dick had won a new degree of respect from his old mentor.
Dick was instrumental in getting Tim Drake installed as the new Robin (third Robin in this continuity).
Although somewhat slighted by not being asked to take over as Batman when Bruce Wayne's back was broken by Bane, Dick had to admit that he wouldn't have wanted to do it. He was his own man now. Not a junior Batman. As Nightwing, Dick did help Bruce reclaim the mantle of the Batman from Jean-Paul Valley.
The many twists and turns in this Dick Grayson's life are still being chronicled in DC publications.
