Mark Hughes - WB4UHI

My interests include:

My wife (Patty), daughter (Anna Grace), and I live on the family farm near Kings Mountain, North Carolina. When I was in high school, my father and I raised turkeys and cows on this farm.

The Battle of Kings Mountain, the turning point of the American Revolution in the South, was fought about three miles from our farm. The Kings Mountain National Military Park preserves the battle site.

Patty, Anna, and I attend Antioch Baptist Church in nearby Cherokee County, SC. Antioch was founded in 1814. I serve as clerk of the cemetery. There are veterans and casualties of seven wars buried in Antioch's cemetery.

I am employed as an instructor in the Electronics Engineering Technology Program at Cleveland Community College in Shelby, NC. Before returning home six years ago, I taught for Southwestern Oklahoma State University and was Department Head at Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College. Before I returned to college in 1984, I worked for thirteen years as an electronic technician (mainly in audio and communications).
